Project Overview
Women-led businesses on Facebook had been growing rapidly—4x since 2013—yet there was a lack of acknowledgment for their success and insufficient support to address the unique challenges women entrepreneurs face, including balancing business growth with family responsibilities.
"She Means Business" was created to bridge this gap, combining digital storytelling with tangible business support. Women business owners, local governments, and female empowerment groups all came together under the belief that "When women succeed, we all succeed." The initiative provided comprehensive resources from app development assistance to strategic consulting, while creating platforms for women to share their entrepreneurial journeys and connect with professional networks previously available only to larger corporations.
First launched in Southeast Asia and Korea, the program's authentic approach to celebrating women's achievements resonated globally. It scaled into a multi-year initiative endorsed by COO Sheryl Sandberg, aligning with her broader women empowerment efforts and establishing Facebook as a champion for gender equality in business.
